Maple Leaf Outdoor Play Space

The Maple Leaf students now have an outdoor classroom on Thetford Academy property. I picked this capstone project because it is a nice thing to do for the Maple Leaf day care students to give them a place to play in nature and be themselves. The location that I picked is a good place for the kids to play outside and use their creativity to build what they want. It is along the path from Thetford Academy to Thetford Elementary school.
Last semester I set boundaries around the outdoor classroom space. This semester I replaced the yellow flagging with blue tipped stakes in the ground. A clear boundary is an important part of a good outdoor classroom. I also cleared a path for the students to walk around the site, I cut tree cookies for the kids to play with, I put tree stumps in for seats and I cut some brush to clean up the site. This outdoor classroom will be a fun and safe place for the Maple Leaf kids to explore, play outside and have fun in nature.
