Health Office Update: Oct. 1

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to everyone for taking care of each other during this time of increased focus on wellness!

Here are three important updates from the TA Health Office:

Flu shots for students will be from 11:45 -2:45 on October 14th. This is courtesy of Upper Valley Pediatrics. Dr. Yukica and Nurse Ellen will be giving shots. The consent form is attached, please return to Nurse Ellen by October 7th. Also attached is the link for the CDC information on the flu shot: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/flu.pdf

Department of Education surveillance Covid PCR testing will start October 5th in the morning. It will occur indoors in a large room with only a few students at a time. Here is the link to my original letter with instructions and the registration link. (FYI, while the initial plan for at the state level was to conduct this kind of testing weekly in schools, the the plans are currently in flux. We will keep everyone informed as the program evolves.)

We are still seeing some cases of the stomach flu;  please remember to have students stay home for 24 hours after symptoms are gone. Also, there is a virus causing a sore throat, cough, congestion; if this lasts more than 24 hours your student does need a Covid PCR test.

A friendly reminder: when calling the office to report a student absence due to illness, it’s important to indicate what exactly what the symptoms are.

Thank you and be well,

Ellen Gnaedinger, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC
