Faculty Openings @ TA:

• Science Teacher

Thetford Academy is recruiting a science teacher with expertise in the physical sciences. Experience teaching laboratory-based science as well as knowledge of chemistry and physics required. This is a full-time faculty position with a start date of August 2022.

• Spanish Teacher

Thetford Academy seeks a Spanish teacher to join the school’s world languages department. TA is a 7-12 school and the course load will include both middle school and high school levels. The TA languages program emphasizes spoken and written language skills along with cultural understanding. Competitive candidates will have experience with a standards-based approach to language curriculum and instruction. Dual certification in both French and Spanish is a plus. This is a full-time faculty position with a start date of August 2022.

• English Teacher

Thetford Academy is recruiting a full-time English teacher. The position will likely include both middle school and high school courses. This is a full-time faculty position with a start date of August 2022.

• MTSS Coordinator

Thetford Academy will introduce a part-time MTSS coordinator role in the 2022-23 school year to guide the process of strengthening our various academic support systems to more effectively impact student outcomes. We are seeking an experienced educator with background in academic data and intervention systems. This is a part-time position, approximately 7-10 hours per week, and is flexible to be designated as faculty FTE (e.g. combined with a teaching position) or the responsibilities could be fulfilled in a consultant capacity (pending Title IV grant approval).

Staff Openings @ TA:

• Food Services Assistant

Thetford Academy is recruiting an assistant in the food service department to support the preparation and service of daily breakfast and lunch meals for students. This is a part-time staff position, 15 hours per week, with employment during the school year (late August through mid June).

• Summer Groundskeeper

TA is seeking a temporary part-time groundskeeper from May through September for 16 hours per week. Days and hours are flexible. Experience operating commercial mowing equipment is preferred, but training will be provided. Tasks will include mowing lawns, playing fields, operating a string trimmer and assisting with athletic field preparation.

• Counseling Team Coordinator

The Counseling Team Coordinator plays a critical role in the department, supporting TA’s three school counselors in providing services to our 300 students in grades 7 through 12. This is a .75 FTE staff position (28 hours/week), year-round (with the option of a more flexible schedule during summer months). Strong candidates will demonstrate an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing a variety of co-occurring priorities. They will possess organizational expertise; attention to detail; relational skills; and a customer service orientation to working with students, colleagues, parents, and external audiences such as college admissions representatives. Bachelor’s degree preferred. This position is scheduled to begin in August 2022, with training sessions over the summer.

• Paraprofessional Educator

Thetford Academy has an opening for a paraprofessional educator to join the school’s special education department. The job entails supporting students with individualized education plans to be successful in their course work and their academic growth. TA’s special education department is rooted in inclusion practices. Settings for the paraprofessional position will include general education classrooms and the learning center. Qualities and experiences that make for a strong candidate include patience, compassion, self-starter, creative thinker, and experience working with young people. This is a full-time, school-year, staff position, with a start date of August 2022.

Administrator Openings @ TA:

• Advancement & Communications Associate

Be a part of the TA advancement team and help take the school’s fundraising and community engagement to the next level. The position will take the lead on alumni engagement, annual fund, and donor database management (Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge). Other responsibilities to include support for community events, social media, school website, photography, and other efforts related to branding, outreach, and fund generation for Thetford Academy. This is a year-round position 30-35 hours weekly, with a start date of July 1, 2022. Bachelor’s degree and experience with development and/or communications in a nonprofit or education setting preferred. Link to full job description. 

• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator

The new DEI Coordinator position at Thetford Academy will help guide the school’s efforts to become a more inclusive and antiracist institution. The recommendations report issued by TA’s 2020-21 Anti-Racism Task Force provides the strategic vision for the school and outlines priority actions. The DEI Coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, staff, and students and provide leadership around the next level of implementation of the task force recommendations. This is a year-round, half-time administrator position, with a start date of July 1, 2022.

• Substitute Teachers

Thetford Academy seeks to expand our substitute teacher roster for the 2022-23 school year and invites interested candidates to apply. We offer a competitive rate of $100/day.
