Illnesses at TA
Teachers, please be aware some students are out several days with pneumonia or they are recovering from one illness and pick up a second illness. Please allow flexibility/forgiveness with making up work.
PNEUMONIA
• Pneumonia is still circulating in the community, we had another new case this week at TA – if your student has a cough and a fever please call their pediatrician.
HEAD COLD
• There is a head cold going around with a lot of congestion & a cough. Rest & fluids help. Some students have had a low grade fever with this.
STOMACH VIRUS
• We have a 24-48 hour stomach bug at TA. It is causing vomiting & diarrhea.
STREP THROAT
• We’ve had 2 cases of strep throat. With strep throat students usually don’t have a cough or a lot of congestion. They usually have a bad sore throat, swollen lymph nodes and sometimes a fever.
MONONUCLEOSIS
• We’ve had 2 cases of mononucleosis recently. This is a viral illness causing a bad sore throat, swollen lymph nodes and extreme fatigue. This is most often passed from student to student by sharing water bottles.
COVID
• No new cases this week.
• Students can return after 24 hours if they are fever free & feeling better.
• Test kits are available in the Health Office or test kits are also available through the US Postal service link to Covid test kit order form
Illness prevention tips: Early bed, 3 meals/day, staying hydrated, hand washing, cover sneezes & coughs. PLEASE don’t share water bottles or food.
Immunizations
I am reviewing immunizations this month.
If you usually exempt your child please use this form.
Please complete it and return it to the health office by November 26th. Thank you to those of you who’ve sent those in.
