Health Office Update: January 28
January 28, 2022
This Health Office update was originally sent to families by email on January 27, 2022.
Current cases:
We have had a total of five cases of Covid this week. The decrease in case counts compared with earlier weeks in January is an encouraging trend. We still need to be cautious as students continue to have contact with Covid in the community. Thanks to everyone, especially our students, for taking care of each other.
- The five positive Covid cases this week were in grades 7, 9, and 12. Students in those grades are considered presumptive contacts.
- If your student develops a runny nose, sore throat or other upper respiratory symptoms/change in taste or smell, they may not be in school. You can test them at home or we can test them at school in your car.
Testing:
- We will be doing the PCR testing on February 1st.
- We have many take-home PCR tests. Once used, they are sent by UPS down to the Broad Lab in Cambridge, MA. Those can be sent home with your student or picked up at school.
Other health concerns at school:
There is an unpleasant stomach bug going around campus. Please keep your child home if they have nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
- To prevent sharing this bug, please give them a friendly reminder not to share beverages/food and to wash hands well before eating.
Immunizations
- If Nurse Ellen asked for your child’s immunizations in December and your child has since received their TDaP, MMR, hepatitis B, polio or varicella vaccination, PLEASE send a hard copy in with your student or email Nurse Ellen a scan of the record.
- If all records or exemptions are not returned, your student may need to be excluded from school.
