Important School Update: Positive Case of COVID-19
December 14, 2020
Dear TA Families,
Earlier today, Thetford Academy learned about a student with positive test results for COVID-19. Based on the particulars of the situation, we have determined that students and staff on campus were not exposed and that we do not need to close pods or the school.
We want you to know that we are taking every precaution to keep our school community safe. We are following all of the steps outlined in the VT Health Department and VT Department of Education’s guidance in its “Strong and Healthy Start” document and are in contact with the Vermont Department of Health about the case. Thank you for understanding that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the names of the individual with COVID-19.
As always, we continue to ask everyone in our school community to take action to help limit the spread of COVID-19, even when family members are not experiencing symptoms.
- Make sure everyone in your household is wearing a mask.
- Make sure everyone in your household is washing their hands.
- Keep your child home if they are sick.
- Call your primary care provider if you or your child has symptoms of COVID-19.
- Learn more about getting tested in Vermont.
We will communicate further updates with you as needed. With all of our continued vigilance and cooperation, we can keep Thetford Academy a safe and healthy place to learn and work.
Please contact us with any concerns or questions.
Sincerely,
Susan Farrell, School Nurse and COVID Coordinator
Carrie Brennan, Head of School
