Health Office Update: September 26, 2024

Thetford Academy Flu Clinic October 10th

11:30 AM -1:00PM in the school gym.

This is for students & staff.

I am confirming by email when I receive parents/guardians’ student’s flu consents.


Illnesses

 • There is a head cold going around with a lot congestion, sore throat & a cough.

• There is a stomach bug going around

• We’ve had 2 cases of pneumonia

• We’ve had 3 cases of Hand, Foot & Mouth disease, students may return to school when their fever is gone & they are feeling better.

Prevention tips: Early bed, 3 meals/day, staying hydrated, hand washing, cover sneezes & coughs.

• Test kits are available in the Health Office.

When Outside:
During Hunting Season – Please check for deer ticks 

• Shower & wash clothes if you are out in tick territory.

• If a deer tick is attached to you for more than 24-36 hours, call your pediatrician & get a one-time antibiotic to prevent Lyme Disease.

• Also, save the tick – show your doctor or Nurse Ellen

Thetford Town Service Officer

A resource for winter: the town service officer can help with gas cards, fuel oil, etc. The town service officer can connect families with other supports.

Thetford Food Shelf
• The food shelf is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to noon. The food shelf serves residents of Thetford, Fairlee, West Fairlee, Vershire and Strafford.

Corinth, West Topsham & Bradford Food Shelves
• West Topsham’s food shelf is at the Riverside Grange & open Fridays 5:30 -6:30 p.m.
• Bradford Academy’s food shelf, in Bradford, is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 3-4 p.m.; Wednesday, 5-6 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-Noon.
