Panthers in Full Swing for Spring

Spring is finally in the air and the sun is shining! The spring season is off to a great start for middle and high school athletic teams.

High School Track and Field
The high school track and field team competed well at their first meet in St. Johnsbury. The pouring rain didn’t stop Ava Hayden from setting a new school record in the 800m race that was previously held for 32 years! The team boasts 19 seniors this spring and both teams are primed to make a ‘run’ for the D3 State Championship in June.

High School Baseball
The wind and warmer weather this week means the baseball teams have started to make their way outside for practices. There is a new varsity coaching staff at the helm this season, Kris Keelty (head coach) and Jarrod Grassi (assistant coach). Both have previously coached at Hartford High School and are excited about joining the TA baseball program. The first game of the season for varsity will be away against Vergennes on 4/19. JV baseball will host their first game on 4/28 vs Bellows Falls at 4:30. Fingers crossed, the official home opener for varsity will be against Oxbow on 4/29 at 4:30.

High School Softball
The high school softball program has been outside practicing at our coop school, Rivendell, since the end of March. The varsity team hosted their first home game at Rivendell on 4/17 and beat North Country 16-10. Highlight of the game: Freshman Camdyn Crow hit a three-run home run during her first at-bat of her high school career! JV softball will head to North Country on 4/26 for an 11:00am game.

Middle School Sports:
Middle school track and field, softball, and baseball have been hard at work preparing for their first events of the season. Baseball has quite the squad this year and will play their first game at home next Thursday (4/24) versus Hartford. Track and field will compete in Hanover at their first meet on April 30th. They look to build on an impressive season last year. Softball has been braving the elements and practicing outside to start the season. They will open up on the road on 4/29 vs Hartford.
