Student Flu Vaccine Clinic Oct. 15
October 02, 2020
The following letter was sent home to all families the week of September 28.
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Thetford Academy and Upper Valley Pediatrics will hold a student flu clinic on Thursday, October 15. Flu vaccines are free for all TA students through the VFC (Vaccines for Children) program at the Vermont Department of Health. Your student can receive a flu vaccine even if they do not attend in person on Thursdays or are completely remote.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that all children over the age of 6 months be immunized for the seasonal flu. Due to the COVID pandemic, receiving the flu vaccine is even more important this year.
Enclosed you will find a consent form and a vaccine information sheet about the flu vaccine. Both documents are also on the TA website under ‘Health Services’. Please be aware that flu vaccines for the 2020-2021 flu season, provided by the state, will be given as a shot.
If you would like your student to receive a flu vaccine, please fill out the consent form, sign, and return it to the main office by Monday, October 12. You can also scan and email a completed consent form to: [email protected] or fax the form to 785-4805. You do not need to return the form if your student is not getting immunized. No vaccines will be administered without signed permission.
In addition to the flu vaccine, hand washing is a very important defense against the flu. For more information, visit the CDC website http://www.cdc.gov/flu.
When calling to report your student home sick with flu symptoms or a diagnosis of the flu, it is helpful if you share this information with the main office or the health office for tracking numbers of cases in our school.
Please contact school nurse, Susan Farrell, ([email protected], 785-4805 x226) with any questions about this event.
