Cedar Circle Farm Offers Middle School Culinary Program: Nov. 6 – Dec. 11

Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center announces their second session of a culinary program for middle schoolers ages 11-14. The six-week session takes a well-rounded approach to teaching older children culinary skills that will develop and expand their love of cooking. The program meets Mondays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. from Nov. 6 to Dec. 11, and is open to any kids ages 11-14

Participants will learn basics in kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation, nutrition, cooking and baking techniques, and presentation, through weekly themed classes.

Cedar Circle Farm will take every opportunity to take campers out to the fields to harvest fresh vegetables and herbs from the farm as they learn about the science of flavors and the importance of freshness when it comes to making delicious and nutritious meals.

This fall, interested young chefs will have the opportunity to continue their culinary education and train as a part of a team for the Junior Iron Chef Vermont. The annual competition, to be held on March 17, is hosted by VT-FEED in Burlington. (Note: Commitment to the competition is not required for participation in the session.)

The middle school culinary program will be co-taught by Cedar Circle Farm’s Education Manager Eric Tadlock and Educator Adrienne Leone. To ensure safety and enjoyment for each student, class sizes are limited based on space and availability.

More information may be found here.  If you have questions, please email Eric Tadlock or call the farm (802) 785-4737.
