TA’s Alpine Ski Team Competes at Pico and Bromley
February 10, 2020
by Paul Dixon
Thetford Academy’s alpine ski team competed at Pico and Bromley recently, with some great individual and team performances from both the boys and the girls. Elle Dixon skied well in both races finishing in 14th place in the Giant Slalom at Pico and cracking the top ten for the first time ever in the Slalom at Bromley with a very strong 9th place finish.
On the boys side, the team has been skiing very well together and earned a fourth place team finish at Pico in the Giant Slalom with Jack Hastings and Riley Burkins leading the way with a 14th and 16th place. Both Alex Holzer and Harley Ransom turned in solid runs to place the boys in fourth ahead of three other teams.
The Slalom at Bromley was a tough course that deteriorated quickly and both Alex and Harley did a great job to make two clean passes. Alex also had a very solid performance and almost cracked the top 20 with a 21st place finish. Jack is going to reload and get them next time after skiing out of the course on both runs along with many other strong skiers.
In addition to some great racing action, the team made sure to hit the slopes after the race for a few hours of free skiing. TA’s skiers have a few races left this season and are looking forward to the District Championship on February 27th.
