Head of School Weekly Email: Parent Focus Groups & 11th Grade College Night

Dear TA Families,

I am writing to share information on a couple of opportunities coming up this month.

1. Parent Focus Groups

In addition to sending out another round of stakeholder surveys later this month to students, parents and TA staff to get feedback on the Fall 2020 program and input for future planning, I will also be convening focus groups for each of these key groups. Students and staff have received their invitations already; this email includes specific details for the parent focus groups and a link to RSVP.

These are opt-in, volunteer sessions. All parents are invited to participate. RSVP is required and sessions will be limited to a max of 15. The sessions will take place online via Google Meet at the following times: Dec. 15, 7:45-8:30am; Dec. 18, 11:45am-12:30pm; Dec. 21, 7:00-7:45pm. We will add more sessions if needed. These will be interactive sessions with participant involvement, focused on the following interconnected topics:

  • the Fall 2020 experience thus far, reflecting on what’s working and what could be improved
  • plans for Spring 2021, considering if and how we might adapt the current program, schedule, etc
  • early visioning for a post-COVID future at Thetford Academy

2. 11th Grade College Information Session – Dec. 8, 7-8pm

Director of Counseling Mark Pichette will lead a session for the Class of 2022 and their families focused on the college research and preparation process. Mark sent out information and a calendar invitation to the parents and student email lists last Sunday. The session will be on Google Meet and will be recorded for those who cannot attend the live event. Please connect directly with Mark with any questions.

Lastly, it was a delight to host our middle school parents last night – and the high school parents last month. Thanks to all who were able to be a part of our adapted/hybrid approach to back to school night. If you haven’t had a chance to see all of your student’s class videos yet, they are available for viewing any time: Middle School Menu of Course Videos & High School Menu of Course Videos.

Happy Friday. Think Snow!
