As we launch the new school year, we are also proudly rolling out a new mission statement for Thetford Academy. The new mission statement, adopted by the TA Board of Trustees in April 2026, was developed during the first phase of our current strategic planning process. Last Tuesday, the Panthers hosted a twelve-school meet on their home course. In total, twelve schools were represented, but only six fielded complete teams. The Panther boys led all challengers and marked their second win of the season, while the Panther girls team finished fifth. The partly sunny day with temperatures in the low 70s yielded some hot times on the Dan Grossman Woods Trail. Of particular note were the early season times posted by sophomores Peter Horan (17:36) and Zac Amber (17:49), who finished first and second, respectively. Marisa Cotilletta, Thetford Academy's Instructional Technology Coordinator, was recently selected by the Vermont-NEA (National Education Association) as a finalist for the 2027 Education Support Professional of the Year award.  The ESP of the Year award recognizes the important role of Education Support Professionals within the VT-NEA, and honors their outstanding contributions to school communities. Dear TA Families, Remembering 9/11We carved out time mid-morning today to come together as a school community to remember and reflect on the events of September 11, 2001. It was a brief but powerful gathering on the quad, led by social studies teacher Casey Huling. The short ceremony was modeled after the tradition created in New York City of honoring those who died on their birthdays by laying a rose by their name inscribed in the 9/11 memorial. Last spring was a big hiring season, as we geared up to say goodbye to five retirees and two teachers on leave - and, fortunately, it was a very successful hiring season as well!  We are pleased to introduce the new faculty faces on campus this fall.
