Strong Season for TA’s Mountain Bike Racers

Thetford Academy juniors Spencer Durkee and Dillon Vance have been a part of the region’s youth mountain biking circuit for more than five years. Though TA doesn’t have a mountain biking team (yet), they are standouts in the local scene. Both students race in two different leagues each year, for Vermont Youth Cycling (VTYC) and Woodstock Union Middle and High School, and this year competed in 10 races.
With this year’s season in the rearview, the results are in and worth noting. With Borderline Racing in the VTYC league, Durkee was among the top 10 racers for the season. Vance was close behind in the top 20 out of 50+ racers in their category. Their Woodstock team won 1st place in their region and 3rd in the league. Durkee and Vance placed in the top 5, 1o, and 20 at each of the races they attended. Out of 60+ riders, Dillon placed 5th among the Junior boys.
