Four Races Down, TA’s Alpine Ski Team Hitting Their Stride

Guest post from Alpine Skiing Coach Paul Dixon

The Thetford Academy Ski Team is off to a great start over the first half of the season with four races behind us and four more to go including the District and State Championships held at Burke in early March. Despite the early lack of snow the crew at Storrs Hill has done an amazing job getting the team out on the slopes for practice. If you are a skier or boarder, Storrs Hill is offering free public skiing on the weekends all winter so go check them out!

The 2024-2025 Alpine team is one of the largest in recent history with 24 athletes on the High School team and an additional 8 Middle Schoolers joining us for practice. We have seen a tremendous amount of progress over the first half of the year and many are starting to hit their stride and climb the leaderboards.

On the Ladies side we have seen consistently strong race performances from Captain Maya Dixon (SR), Ella Harvey (SR), Bianca Pulaski (SR), Sophia Harvey (JR), Willow Slayton (SR) and Captain Heidi Hewes (SR). The Men’s side has seen strong performances from Captain Isaac Yukica (SR), Elijah Renner (JR), Hardy Payson (SR), Tanner Hardy (SO), Connor Gaine (SR) and Captain Oliver Ransom (SR).

With so many strong graduating Seniors this year we are looking forward to the next generation of Thetford Academy racers and seeing many second and first year skiers improving consistently week over week and having a great time on the slopes!
