Panther Boys Take D3 Title at State Meet, Softball and Baseball Playoffs Continue

The Panther boys had another record-breaking day on Thursday, defeating 17 teams in the Division 3 track and field championship to take home their sixth consecutive state title. The team’s seniors Uly Junker-Boyce, Luke Miller, Brady Sloop, and Evan Rich earned 127 of the teams 164.5 points and took the top spot in seven meet events.

Other highlights included sophomore Connor Sloop’s top placement on the podium in the discus throw; Connor Gaine, Elijah Renner, Daniel Mann, and Jay Hill’s win in the 4×800; and Uly Junker-Boyce, Evan Rich, Hunter Clay, and Emmett Terry’s 4×100 relay victory. In the long jump, Uly’s 7.28 meter leap was good to beat his own state record and place him in the national top 100. On the girls team, the Panthers laid down strong performances across the meet, finishing fifth out of 18 teams. Senior Ava Hayden added a third year as the D3 champion in the 800 and 1500, and took 3rd place in the 3000. Senior Maya Dixon’s finished second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles, and Alicja Perdrizet podiumed in third in the long jump, with a 4.28 meter jump. Playoff Updates: In softball, the Panthers won 13-3 in their quarterfinal game vs. Burlington/Winooski, they’ll travel to BFA-Fairfax on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. semifinal game, In their own quarterfinal game, TA’s baseball team defeated the Vergennes Commodores 10-1. The Panthers host Green Mountain on Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. for the semifinal.
