Panthers Roar! TA Baseball Takes Division 3 Title in Championship Game

For the second time in three years, the Panthers roared to the state title in a rematch vs. rival White River Valley. Prior to their 2023 championship win, Panthers baseball hadn’t clinched a title since 1987 – but it’s safe to say things are looking up for TA on the diamond.

The Panthers walked into the game on Saturday with a strong season behind them and fresh off a hard-fought semifinal win vs. 6-seed Green Mountain. At Centennial Field, the Panthers had reason to be confident. The Wildcats were also riding high, with an undefeated season behind them. Both teams started strong, keeping the first two innings tight and scoreless before WRV got the jump with a run in the bottom of the third.

The Wildcats lost their advantage in the fourth, with TA covering the bases with hits from Miles Lawrence, Owen Goodrich, and Ollie Sarazin. The Panthers were up, and they held the lead with continued steady pitching by Xander Oshoniyi and Miles Lawrence, backed by a skilled and hard-working defense.

Panthers’ Coach Kris Keelty, former Hartford assistant coach who joined TA this year, told the Valley News he was grateful. “Grateful to be around a great group of kids,” he said. “They’re talented, they work hard, they stay out of trouble. I could not ask for any more.” Congratulations to our newest State Champions!
