Head of School Weekly Email: Founders’ Day Traditions Live On!
February 14, 2026
Dear TA Families,
Yesterday we celebrated our 83rd Founders’ Day as a school community. This is an energetic mid-winter event that Carl Anderson started to bring people together after the school burned down in 1942 – and it has been a treasured tradition ever since.
Students in every grade demonstrated incredible creativity and productivity in their committees earlier in the week, leading up to the big day. Yesterday the sunny skies and warmer weather helped make for a fun atmosphere for the outdoor competitions. We welcomed alumni ranging in classes from 1951 to 2006 back to campus to participate as judges and banquet guests.
Thank you to Stacy Barton and the Founders’ Day Committee for keeping the event going year after year and making 2026 another success! We have lots of great photos, which we can share next week. In the meantime, enjoy this ‘then and now’ pair of images of sack races in the snow. A lot has changed over the decades and, yet, many traditions endure. Certainly the joy and camaraderie remain intact!
