Chorus Club Joins Statewide Concert Hosted by Bernie Sanders
April 20, 2026
The TA Chorus Club recently had the honor of participating in a statewide choral concert sponsored by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Held on April 11 at Vermont State University Castleton, the event marked the eighth annual gathering of student singers from across Vermont to celebrate the arts and advocate for the continued importance of music education in schools.
Representing TA at this special event were Grace Brown, Jillian Fein, Matthew Andrasko, Marin Kidd, Lola Squire, and Twyla Weinstein. Alongside peers from schools across the state, these students joined their voices with others in a day centered on collaboration, creativity, and community.
The concert was more than a performance—it was also an opportunity for students to learn and connect. Participants attended workshops and took part in a town hall with Senator Sanders, where they discussed the value of arts education and the importance of supporting music programs in schools.
Our TA chorus showcased their talent with two featured performances: Journey the Night by Lisa Longe and a heartfelt medley of Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World. Their performances reflected both technical skill and emotional expression, capturing the spirit of the event.
The concert concluded with a powerful finale as all participating choirs united to sing Vermont’s state song, These Green Mountains. In that moment, voices from across the state blended into one, demonstrating how music transcends individual differences and creates a shared sense of belonging. It was a very powerful and emotional moment.
This experience highlighted an essential truth: music is a universal language. It brings people together, fosters empathy, and builds community as only the performing arts can. For the TA Chorus Club, the event was not only a chance to perform, but also a meaningful reminder of the power of the arts to connect, inspire, and unite.
