Upper Valley Speech & Debate Camp Returns for Year Two

Thetford Academy and Hanover High School will host the second annual Upper Valley Speech and Debate Camp (UVSDC) from August 10-14, 2026, on TA’s campus. The half-day program welcomes students entering grades 7 through 10, with a curriculum built to challenge debaters at every level of experience.

Over the course of the week, campers will learn the structure and strategy of Public Forum Debate, sharpen their skills through impromptu speaking and constructive argumentation, and receive direct feedback from coaches and experienced student debaters. The week culminates in a low-pressure tournament where campers put their new skills to the test.

UVSDC is directed by Oliver Benedict (HHS ’26) and Daniel Mann (TA ’26), two of the state’s top ranked debaters. Having founded the camp last year, they return this summer with even more to offer, supported again by coaches Corin Benedict (HHS) and Kristen Downey (TA).
