Head of School Weekly Email: Roundtable Day Reflections
April 10, 2026
Dear TA Families,
Today was our first of two TA Roundtable Days this spring. Roundtable Days are one of a handful of days throughout the school year when we pause our normal routines to make time for special schoolwide activities that build and celebrate community – in this case with a focus on reflection, growth, our portfolios, and TA’s transferable skills.
Students in 10th and 12th grades led roundtable presentations of their portfolios, with 9th and 11th graders as peer audiences. The 8th graders prepped for their Montreal trip and explored vernal pools in the TA woods, and the 7th graders did portfolio reflection activities and participated in team-building activities with their advisors.
Portfolio Presentations – Seniors & Sophomores Take the Lead
Roundtable Days are especially important for seniors as they take on the challenge of presenting a summation of their high school experience to an audience of peers, faculty, and family. Students draw from their portfolio, four years in the making, to share evidence of learning, growth, and accomplishments. I enjoyed being a part of five senior roundtables today and was impressed with the poise, confidence, and pride with which students presented. The presenters shared an inspiring range of experiences and artifacts – from their academic classes to athletics, internships, jobs, clubs, community service, summer programs, and more.
Gratitude to Roundtable Audiences
Having an engaged audience in the room is integral to the success and richness of the roundtable presentation experience. While the seniors and sophomores took the lead on presenting today, 9th and 11th grade students were awesome audience members, sharing thoughtful questions and kudos with each presenter. A special thank you to the senior parents and grandparents who were able to be a part of their student’s roundtable today, too!

Thank you,
Carrie Brennan, Head of School
