TA Students Attend Governor’s Institute of Vermont Winter Weekend
March 05, 2019
Four Thetford Academy students participated in the Governor’s Institute of Vermont’s Winter Weekend Program: Mack Briglin ’22, Casey MacVeagh ’20, Lily MacVeagh ’20, and Emi Vaughan ’21. “The experience was overall really fun and it was cool to meet intellectually curious students from all across Vermont,” said Casey MacVeagh.
The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont provides accelerated learning residencies on college campuses for highly-motivated young Vermonters.
“Each Institute is unique, built around a single focus area. But they all share certain similarities: they’re all residential, so you live on a college campus and have access to all the resources the college provides, from state-of-the-art labs to studios; they’re all hands-on intense bursts of learning and fun, where you and your new friends who share your interests explore topics in-depth with leading professionals in the field; and they’re a chance to try something new, make lasting memories with new friends, and learn more than you can imagine!”
At this year’s Winter Weekend, GIV participants had the opportunity to explore a variety of topics, with strands focused on neuroscience and epidemiology, youth empowerment and youth voice, and art and songwriting.
