Student Support Services

The Student Support Services Department at Thetford Academy provides a wide range of individualized services designed to help eligible students fulfill their academic potential.

The goal of the Student Services Department is inclusion in the least restrictive environment. Our faculty and staff work in close collaboration with teachers, grade-level teams, the Student Support Team, and the Academic Advisory Council toward a positive, well-rounded, and successful student experience.

Special education faculty and staff also assist students with transition planning as students enter the TA community, and again as they plan for post-graduate life in college, work, military, and community settings.

In accordance with the Vermont Agency of Education Special Education regulations, Thetford Academy serves students from all categories of disability whose stated Individual Education Program (IEP) goals, objectives, and services can be met within the Academy setting.

Learning Center

The Learning Center at Thetford Academy is a homebase for TA’s Student Support Services team. In the Learning Center, students have the opportunity to work with Special Education faculty and staff to receive specially designed instruction and structured support during the school day. Students with a current IEP may be awarded academic credit for successful completion of individualized study in the Learning Center.

Skills Center

Students with Section 504 plans may also be scheduled for support services such as assistance with study skills and organization in the Skills Center. Students accessing the Skills Center may be awarded academic credit for this course.
