TA Teams Up with Newton School
August 28, 2019
The bus pulled up to TA on the first day of Strafford’s Newton School’s partnership with Thetford Academy. On the bus: 16 Newton middle school students, principal Tracey Thompson, and several teachers and staff members. TA faculty met the bus, excited to welcome the group and help them get oriented to their new afternoon routine.
This exciting new partnership between the two schools aims to both build community and provide student opportunity. For the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, Newton School 7th and 8th graders will join Thetford Academy’s middle school students for the last academic block of the day.
Newton School students have registered to take a wide variety of TA electives, including Instrumental Music, Chorus Art, Design Technology, French, Spanish, and Outdoor Leadership. Each afternoon, students will attend two TA electives before heading back to Strafford and home.
Thetford Academy is Strafford’s designated high school and has welcomed generations of Strafford families through its doors. This partnership builds upon decades of collaboration and is an exciting new way to work together to provide educational and social opportunities for young students.
