Congratulations to Dean of Students Siobhan Lopez for being the recipient of the Peters Family Employee of the Year Award for 2021. This special recognition goes to a TA employee each year who has demonstrated deep dedication to Thetford Academy and has gone beyond the call of duty to nurture, support, and inspire students and the school community.

The Dean of Students plays a critical role at TA, serving as the primary contact for students and families, providing leadership and support to the Counseling Office, the Health Office, the athletics program, student activities, and more. During the Covid-19 pandemic, these roles placed Siobhan Lopez at the heart of TA’s Covid planning and response team. Every day and with every decision, Siobhan centered student and staff safety, health, and well-being. She was a thoughtful listener, strong leader, and always there to support and advocate for students in need. Head of School Carrie Brennan presented the award at Class Day on June 11 and emphasized that “without the steadfast work ethic and leadership Dean of Students Siobhan Lopez, we could not have gotten through this journey of a year!”

This TA Dedicated Employee of the Year award, now in its 20th year, was initiated by long-time Thetford Academy educator and alum Ted Peters upon his retirement in 2002 in honor of his parents, who also worked at the Academy for many years.
