Head of School Weekly Email: Assemblies, Athletics, Vaccine Clinics & More

Dear TA Families,

Lots of news to share as we move into the last week of September.

Weekly “Assembly” on Wednesdays

Due to continuing public health precautions, we haven’t been able to return to all-school assemblies in the gym. Instead, we continue to pre-record assembly videos like we did last year, which students and teachers experience from within their advisories. (Hence the quotation marks around the word “assembly.”) We know it’s not the same, and we miss being together as a big TA community, but it’s one of the covid compromises that linger in our lives for now. The big goal remains the same though: fostering our school community by sharing news, celebrating students, presenting important and timely topics, promoting clubs and student opportunities, and more. This year we are sharing the assembly video links in the school calendar, so that students who missed a Wednesday or parents who are interested, can view the week’s recording. Just look for the ‘Power Hour – Assembly’ event each Wednesday to find the link.

Upcoming for Panther Athletics

Our soccer and cross-country teams are now mid-season and have a full schedule of competitions each week. Best of luck to our high school cross-country runners who head to the Manchester (NH) Invitational tomorrow to compete against runners from throughout New England. Our varsity boys’ soccer team will also be on the road for a game against North Country Union High School. Next week TA hosts a home soccer game on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, all with start times of 4:30pm, and caps off the week with the Woods Trail Run on Saturday. Come out and cheer on our panther teams! More details on the school calendar.

Vaccine Clinic @ TA

Thetford Academy is hosting a Covid vaccine clinic on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 3:15-5:00 p.m. Contact School Nurse Ellen Gnaedinger for more information and to sign up. Also, Lyme, NH is hosting a vaccine clinic with all three Covid vaccines available on Saturday (tomorrow), 9am-noon, on the town green. This is a free event, open to NH and VT residents. Please spread the word to friends and family about these two clinics.

Highlights for Next Week

  • Mountain Day moved to Monday 9/27
  • College rep visits to TA launch with Oberlin College on 9/28
  • Middle School Dance is on Friday 10/1
  • Woods Trail Run is Saturday 10/2

Please use the school calendar and news page as key resources to keep up on the latest happenings at TA – and social media, too! Find TA updates on Facebook and Instagram.

Wishing all a good weekend,

Carrie Brennan, Head of School
