Return of Winter Concert Music to our Ears

After a long hiatus, Thetford Academy’s instrumental and choral students were proud to present their winter concert on December 15, 2021 in the Vaughan Alumni Gymnasium. With a backdrop of photographs captured by TA photography and yearbook students, the concert was a welcome return to live performance and sharing the joy of music with one another.

The concert featured TA’s stage band and the middle school chorus with 9th grade soloist Zach Nalette. Led by choral teacher John Luce, the chorus’s uplifting set included Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” a medley from the musical The Fantasticks, Joy to the World, and an arrangement of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “What a Wonderful World,” among others.

The stage band played arrangements by instrumental teacher Whit Van Meter, including songs from the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, and more. The band and chorus collaborated to perform “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”.  It was a memorable, musical evening of song and celebration.
