Head of School Weekly Email: Final Stretch of Quarter 1

Hello & Happy Friday to TA Families,

Preparing for the Last Week of the Quarter

Next week will be our ninth week of the school year, and Friday 10/21 will mark the end of the 1st quarter. This is an important window of time to check in at home about how your student is doing in their classes, check Web2School together if you haven’t done so in a while, visit Google Classroom sites to learn more about projects and assessments this quarter, and help your student set and reach their goals in each of their classes before the quarter comes to a close.

This is especially true for students who have been out for a few days or more this fall due to illness. We need families to be close partners with us in supporting students who have been absent to help ensure they are on track with their make-up work and keeping up upon their return. We know it is challenging for students to miss class, and want to encourage an ‘all hands on deck’ approach – with teachers, advisors, and counselors doing all that we can on the school front and parents, guardians, and students doing all that they can on the home front.

Weekend Events, 10/15-10/16

  • The Varsity Girls Soccer team has its last home game of the season tomorrow, Saturday 10/15 at 11am – with a special recognition ceremony for the senior players before the game at 10:45. We welcome community fans! The Class of 2023 will have the concession stand open, so come for the game and stay for lunch.
  • On Sunday afternoon, TA will host its Fall Admissions Open Houses, with a middle school event at 1pm and a high school event at 3pm. The open houses are for prospective students and families exploring school options for the 2023-24 school year. Please let friends and neighbors know! Check out the TA website for more details and to RSVP.
  • Also on Sunday, the Summer 2022 TOP advanced canoe trip participants will lead a presentation in the Martha Jane Rich Theater from 5-6pm. A group of TA students embarked on a twelve-day wilderness canoe trip in La Verendrye Park in Quebec, Canada this past summer and are excited to share their experience with the community. Join us for a student-led slideshow and presentation.

College Rep Visits Next Week

Juniors and seniors are invited to attend the college rep visits happening every week in the TA counseling office. Check out the college rep schedule for next week.

Volunteers Needed – VT State XC Meet 10/29

TA will host its second major cross-country meet of the season on Saturday 10/29. Volunteers are needed – new volunteers are welcome, and veteran volunteers are encouraged to return! Contact Meet Director David McGinn [email protected] to sign up. Check out the fun photos of volunteering at the Woods Trail event earlier this month to get a sense of the many roles (and people!) it takes to host the big XC events at TA every fall:

Annual Notification for Lead Testing at TA
