Spring Roundtable Days Coming Up: April 5 & May 3

At Thetford Academy, we are proud of the academic content that we offer students in all of our classes. At the same time, we recognize that students are also learning skills in school that transcend single-subject information – skills like communication, problem solving, and critical thinking that they use in many facets of their life, within the classroom and beyond. In the 2021-2022 school year, we launched Thetford Academy’s 5 Transferable Skills to create a framework for students to reflect on these real-life skills over their middle/high school years. In our advisory program and in their classes, students have been collecting evidence of their growth in the TA Transferable Skills, and have been compiling a digital portfolio to demonstrate their accomplishments.

Now, two years into the program, students have collected a body of work that they will present on the mornings of April 5 and May 3 at our TA Roundtable Days. Students in grades 7-10 will present their portfolios in their advisory groups, showing their artifacts, answering questions from their peers, and reflecting on their growth as a learner. Our seniors, the class of 2023 will, for the first time, be presenting their portfolios at Student Roundtables as a requirement for graduation. Their presentations will be made to an audience of classmates, current 11th graders, family members, and other invited guests.
