Soccer Season Kicks Off for the Panthers

The varsity boys opened their season with a four-game winning streak – two of them shutouts – and are showing no signs of slowing down. With what the Journal Opinion called the Panthers’ “high-powered offense” (great photos in last week’s edition) and sophomore Matthew McGovern guarding the net, the boys have been scoring well – and not letting much through. Next up, the Panthers travel to Hazen, then take on Lake Region at home this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Learn who’s on the team– and follow the Panthers on Scorebook Live for game schedule and scores.

On the girls side, the Panthers are fierce and fighting. They opened the season with a 1-1 tie vs. Oxbow, and followed with decisive wins over Blue Mountain and Lyndon Institute. In a close game last week vs. Lamoille, the girls took their first loss of the season (5-6). The schedule gets more challenging from here, starting with Thursday’s away game vs. Lake Region, then Division 2 teams Lamoille and Harwood Union next week. Check out the girls roster and follow them on Scorebook Live for schedule and scores.
