Head of School Weekly Email: Culminating Experiences & Achievements

Dear TA Families,

We do it all! The many talents of TA students are on display in these final weeks of the school year, with culminating experiences and competitions in the arts, academics, and athletics. Thank you for supporting your students as they strive to manage their time, stay organized, complete deadlines, achieve their goals, keep their balance – and hopefully find joy and take pride in the experiences, too!

Arts
On Wednesday evening the Panther Cafe was transformed into an arts gallery on opening night, including fancy hors d’oeuvres service by culinary students. The fine arts and design tech classes had work on display in a variety of mediums – painting, prints, collage, woodworking, and ceramics  Concert goers got to see the musical theater class, instrumental ensemble classes, and stage band perform. Check out the featured photos below.

Athletics
Congratulations to our high school track team, with a big day at the state meet in Burlington yesterday! They brought home the first place trophy (boys – for the 6th consecutive year!) and earned fifth place (girls). More meet details and photos to come; in the meantime, those who want to dive into the race results can visit athletic.net and catch a short clip of coverage on WCAX nightly news.

Come out to cheer on the varsity softball and baseball teams as they progress in the playoffs. Baseball beat Vergennes yesterday and now head to the semi-finals, to be played at Thetford Academy on Tuesday, June 10. Softball’s first round game was postponed due to today’s rain, so come out on Sunday, June 8 to cheer them on against Burlington/Winooski – home field, 2pm.

Academics
Next week is a big one! Review this schedule at home and check in with your student to learn more about what they will be doing in each of their classes as the semester comes to an end.

Graduation!
The ultimate culmination of the academic year is reflected in the graduation celebration for the senior class. Thetford Academy’s graduation is open to the community, and we especially welcome our current students in grades 7-11 and their families to attend. Graduation for the TA Class of 2025 takes place Friday, June 13 at 6:30pm on the front lawn (or the Vaughan Alumni Gymnasium). You’re invited! Rain or shine, we have space for all.

Day of Giving
One of the ways we support robust programming for students is through our annual fund, which brings in philanthropic dollars each year as a revenue line in our operational budget. Today is our springtime ‘Day of Giving’ to help generate gifts to the annual fund as we approach the end of the fiscal year (June 30). Be a part of this special day by sharing a donation with Thetford Academy. Gifts of any size are welcome. Participation is paramount. Help us achieve a $25,000 match challenge from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation. Visit the TA website for more details & donation link.

Thank you!

Carrie Brennan, Head of School
