Fall Athletics Season in Full Swing – Go Panthers!

Thetford Academy’s fall athletics season is in full swing! On August 29, the boys varsity soccer team opened their season on a high note securing a 1-0 victory vs Randolph’s Galloping Ghosts. Next up at home, the JV and varsity boys hosted People’s Academy – JV came out strong, taking Peoples 4-2 win and the varsity team fought hard before falling 3-1. JV continued their winning streak with a 2-1 victory in St. Johnsbury over a talented Hilltopper team. The varsity team came back with a 2-0 win vs. Lyndon on Monday. On Wednesday, they’ll be at Oxbow for a 4:30 p.m. match up.

The varsity girls soccer team started the season with two tough losses, a 3-0 loss to Oxbow followed by a 7-1 home loss to Spaulding. They are hoping to turn it around this week with games in Windsor and Lake Region.

Middle school coed soccer is off to a solid start, winning their first game 3-0 over Oxbow. They have a full schedule ahead – three games this week vs. Hanover, Sharon, and Rivendell.

TA’s high school golf team has grown from four athletes to eight this season! They’ll be hosting a number of matches at the Lake Morey Country Club, as well as the Girl’s State Golf Championship. Lots of matches next week for the golf team and we’re looking forward to continued progress over the course of the season.

The middle and high school cross country teams are up and running (pun intended)! The HS team competed at Bellows Falls last week and had some great performances on both the girls and boys teams. TA is the host for a middle and high school this afternoon, and the middle school team will have an opportunity to show off their skills in their first meet of the season.

Despite drought conditions, bass fishing has been casting away, traveling to local watering holes to hone their skills. The team will compete in the VPA Classic on September 20 and then head up to the VPA Championships on October 4. Our anglers are eager and hoping to put a banner on the wall this season!
