A Few Ways to Support TA – Volunteer Opportunities This Weekend

This Saturday, Thetford Academy will host Vermont’s Cross Country State Championship, with teams from all across the state competing on the Dan Grossman Woods Trail for a title. Volunteers are still needed to support the event and all community members are invited to join the fun. For more information about volunteer opportunities at the meet, contact Athletic Director Bri Barnes.

The Thetford Academy Alumni Association (TAAA) will also be at the Championship meet, serving up delicious food to nourish the thousands of athletes and spectators attending. All proceeds are returned to Thetford Academy to support academics and student activities. To volunteer for TAAA, sign up online or contact volunteer coordinator Amanda Gray at [email protected].

On Sunday, October 26th, from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m, Thetford Academy’s Thetford Outdoor Program is organizing a community work day to expand the school’s new disc golf course. The current 9-hole course has been a great resource for students and community members, and is now ready to expand to 18 holes! Crews will be clearing woods, leveling tee pads, installing baskets, and cleaning up fairways – and volunteers are welcome to join for all or part of the day. Meet at TA’s woodlot (the area across from the Academy where the Torrey Mountain Bike Trail begins. For more information contact Scott Ellis at [email protected].
