Head of School Weekly Email: Seeking Your Input & Your Action

Dear TA Families,

As we head into February break, I invite you to help shape Thetford Academy’s future by sharing your voice and perspective.

Input Requested: Mission Statement Survey

Thetford Academy convened a task force this year to guide the development of our next strategic plan. It is both daunting and inspiring to think big about the future, set institutional goals, and help build the bridge towards those aspirations. How do we envision the TA of 2030? 2035? … 2040?!

The children we know who are in kindergarten today will be graduating from high school in 2038. What can we do now to ensure the best of the Thetford Academy experience is available to the next generation of students – and also work to improve and develop our school along the way, so it’s even stronger and future-ready?

The TA Strategic Planning Task Force will be reaching out periodically to share our progress and seek your input through the process – starting now! The first phase of our efforts has focused on the TA mission statement. We invite you to take this short survey to share your reactions to words, phrases, and sentiments in the current TA mission and new drafts for your consideration. LINK to mission statement survey

Action Needed: Act 73 & Advocacy for TA

The Thetford Academy Board of Trustees and I are striving to keep our community informed and engaged regarding proposed changes in Vermont’s education system. Act 73, the 2025 ‘education transformation’ law, has the potential to dramatically impact Thetford Academy and the connections between our school and our sending towns. We invite you to learn more about what’s at stake and to take action by adding your voice to the conversation. LINK to Act 73 memo & legislator communication templates

We wish everyone a good break. School is back in session on Monday, March 2.

Thanks!

Carrie Brennan, Head of School

Featured photos this week: Lots going on this past Thursday! 8th graders visited Dartmouth College’s Rauner Library and Life Sciences Greenhouse with their science and English teachers Kathy Hooke and Kristen Downey, experiencing firsthand centuries-old books and rare plants in one cool trip to Hanover. Jeff Seabaugh’s musical drama students stretched their dance skills and creative spirits with guest choreographers. The Getting to Y team and their advisor Kara Toms again sparked joy and raised awareness about mental health in their latest lunchtime tabling activity, ‘p.s. I Love You!’.
