Middle School Basketball Teams Close Exciting Season

The smell of pizza wafted through campus last Wednesday evening as both the girls and boys middle school basketball teams celebrated the end of successful seasons.

The girls started off in a challenging position when an injury left the team with just six active players. Of course, that didn’t stop this group of hard-working, determined athletes! This team showed up every day ready to play. They supported each other, encouraged each other, and worked together to make the most out of their season.

Not only did the team develop their basketball fundamentals, but their perseverance and hard work helped them develop life skills that will stay with them long into the future. Congratulations to eighth graders Alex Foster and Mel Fraser, and seventh graders Elly Emery, Olive Landry, Coral Reigler, and Kate Donnelly on a great run this year!

The middle school boys basketball team also had a strong season. The 7th graders on the team were Ross Bonnett, Bryce Follensbee, Owen Hill, Tommy Horan, Rennick Oshoniyi, Jackson Snider, and Cooper Swanson. The 8th graders were Nate Debo, Blake Farley, and Parker Strew. The team was coached by Sayer Wickham, with Joey Farley assisting.

The team ended the season 10-6 and placed second in the Lyme Holiday Tournament. Other highlights included an exciting overtime game with Hanover and a win against Windsor to avenge their previous buzzer-beater loss. Good luck to the three 8th graders as they set their sights on high school basketball.

Congratulations to all the middle school Panther players on a great season!
