Panthers Basketball Celebrates Seniors
February 24, 2019
Nearing the end of basketball season is always bittersweet for the Thetford Academy Panthers, as it comes time to celebrate and send off our senior athletes. This year, the Panthers honored standout Girls’ Varsity players Abby Berard, Lily Brown, and Kiana Johnson at the February 7th home game v. Randolph (56-29). The Varsity Boys honored seniors Carter Blain, Seth Boyce, Jake Colby, Ethan Steingas, Owen Deffner, Tony Pippin and managers Ally Perry and Skyra Coulter on Wednesday at their home game v. U-32 (58-53).
Seniors Kiana Johnson and Jake Colby–both former Chelsea Red Devils who transferred to TA this year–hit their 1,000 point milestones on the court this season, joining an impressive list of athletes and earning the pride of both school communities.
Both teams have had impressive and exciting seasons. The Panther Boys are finishing strong with a 13-4 team record and two games remaining. They are fighting for a top three D-III spot in their final week of regular season play, first at home against Lake Region on Monday, February 25, then at Lamoille on Wednesday.
The Girls finished their regular season with a record of 17-2, putting them in second place for D-III. They now await the upcoming announcement of pairings for the state tournament.
Please join us in a big thank you to all of our senior athletes — and come out to support them in their final regular season games and during tournament play!
