Sometimes we select a student for this prestigious award because they have recently done amazing things and we hope to encourage them to keep it up. Often we reward a student who has come into their own in their last two years of high school.

The rarest awards go to students who were worthy of this award every month they’ve attended TA, and this month we recognize this kind of student. Seth Boyce has been a standout at Thetford Academy, and in the larger community, during his entire career on our campus.

Seth’s ties to this community run deep. When asked about Seth, many of his teachers tell stories that begin in childhood. Mr. Deffner recalls Owen’s great friend and teammate in youth basketball and baseball, an athlete who always gave his complete effort every day. Ms. Barton’s memories of Seth date back to middle school, where his commitment to academic excellence already made him a standout.

As he moved into high school, Seth continued to impress his teachers with his tremendous work ethic and his positive attitude. Whether he’s studying US History or World History, Economics or English, or any one of the five courses he took with Mr. Burkins (who promises Seth a personalized blazer for this accomplishment), Seth is an enthusiastic learner and an accomplished student who is always up for a challenge.

And perhaps more importantly, Seth Boyce is someone who is truly kind to everyone he meets, and whose efforts make TA a better place. He leads in the classroom and beyond with his positive example. This year, at a critical moment when his class needed him most, he stepped into the role of senior class president.

For his leadership in the classroom and in our community, for his kindness and for his commitment to academic excellence, we are pleased to recognize Seth Boyce as our March 2019 Student of the Month.
