Don’t Miss TA’s Performance of “Godspell,” Opening Friday

This weekend, Thetford Academy is excited to present the hit musical, Godspell. The show opens Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., with additional performances Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.  Originally written and performed in the 1970’s, Godspell has since been updated for a modern audience with contemporary references and exciting new musical arrangements.

Godspell was the first major musical theater work from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden) – and it took the world by storm. Led by the international hit, “Day by Day,” Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All for the Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” “We Beseech Thee” and “By My Side.”

Told through the lens of different parables using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing, Godspell offers a timeless story of the importance of belonging and creating community. Its messages of kindness, tolerance, inclusion, and love come vibrantly to life and are timely in our world today.

The Thetford Academy cast is led by Eli Dybvig, Saylor Billiau, Zurael Star, Emma Willens, Alex Fein, Simon Swingforth, Willow Slayton, Natalie Lewis, Twyla Weinstein, Calvin Powers, Jorge Sanchez, Darrell Duprey, Marissa McKinney, Jake Hunter, Jayden Taft, Rayne Waln, Nico Roya, Aylhea LaBadie, Plover Corbett, Londyn Oshoniyi, and Maddie Piecuch.

Working behind the scenes are Dramaturg: Charlotte Arendell. Stage Manager: Ceci Luce, Sound Design: Shisi Dai, Lighting Design: Hugo Billiau, Spotlight Operator, Rowan Moody A’ness, Keyboard: Andre Whiteberg.

Advance tickets can be purchased online until 3 p.m. on Thursday, and also available at the door (first come first serve).
