Celebrate the Arts at TA’s Spring Concert and Arts Expo on May 29

Thetford Academy’s student artists – musicians, chorale performers, photographers, painters, designers, chefs, and more – will come together next week to showcase their work to the community and celebrate the arts at TA. Next Wednesday, May 29th, join us for our Spring Concert and Arts Expo – an exciting evening of performance, art exhibits, and culinary delights.

First up, doors open at 5:15 p.m. and guests are invited to enjoy a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by students in our Culinary Arts program. The menu includes something for everyone, from sweet flourless chocolate cake and strawberry rhubarb cups to savory spanakopita, pesto gougere, and “Triple C” galettes.

Visual Arts students will showcase work in a variety of media, including painting, ceramics, mosaics, and linocut printing. A slideshow of student photography will highlight artists’ diverse interests and visions; design technology students will feature their wood and metalwork, as well as models of this year’s timber framing design and build project.

The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the choral performances. The 2nd semester middle school chorus classes will share an “eclectic mix of contemporary pop, classic pop, musical theatre, and salsa music,” focusing on vocal dynamics and harmony. Watch out for guest performances from high school singers, too!

Next up will be the instrumental performances from the high school stage band and instrumental music classes, stage band. The instrumental classes will perform music by Queen, The Animals, and Carlos Santana, and the stage band’s lineup will include music by The Spinners, Aretha Franklin, Stravinsky, Charles Mingus, and more.
