HANOVER, N.H.—Feb. 5, 2018—FUJIFILM Dimatix and Hypertherm, are partnering on a high-tech manufacturing and engineering program for high school seniors at both Lebanon High School and Thetford Academy. In addition to learning career readiness skills, participating students will earn two credits toward graduation, including one full math and half a science credit. The program’s introduction follows more than 18 months of planning between the two employers and schools. Designed to last one full semester or 18 weeks, students will rotate through various FUJIFILM Dimatix and Hypertherm teams. He was hired by Martha Rich for a part-time position teaching Forestry, Horticulture, and Vocational Agriculture. Twenty-two years later he is still teaching two of the same classes—along with 8th grade Earth Science and Astronomy. Mr. Whitaker had experience in teaching before he started at TA; he worked as Behavioral Support in the adolescents’ department at Bradley Hospital in Rhode Island. Thetford Academy’s 9th annual Poetry Out Loud competition took place in the Martha Jane Rich Theater on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The competition is part of a nationwide contest that “encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation.”  It reaches 3 million students from 10,000 schools across the country. Ten high school students memorized and recited poems of their choice, each incorporating their own style and interpretations into their recitations. 75th Annual Founders' Day! On Friday, Feb. 2, Thetford Academy celebrated its 199th birthday with the 75th annual Founders’ Day celebration! This year's theme was animated movies; each class chose an animated movie for their class to represent. Students displayed their individual talents and creativity by preparing skits, building floats, decorating cakes, making costumes, and designing banners that incorporated the specific movie as well as earned points for their class.
