Head of School Weekly Email: Service, Sports, Summer & More

Dear TA Families,

Here are a few of the highlights as we jumped into a busy spring schedule after break this week:

Service Activities

The Operation Day’s Work event on Wednesday had student crews working throughout our community, painting, spring yard cleaning, baking, car washing, and more – at organizations like the Thetford Church, at people’s homes, and here on campus. Check out some of the many crews in today’s photos. Congratulations to the ODW student organizers for all of their coordination and thanks to the many students who participated in this service-oriented fundraiser, despite the rainy weather. The week ended with another community service activity for many classes, which was participating in an early start this afternoon to Thetford’s Green Up Day. Green Up Day is happening in communities throughout the Upper Valley tomorrow, and TA students and teachers did their part in taking care of Academy Road and TA campus this afternoon.

Spring Sports

The spring sports season is in full swing. The softball, baseball, and track teams – at the high school and middle school levels – are all competing. Check out the team calendars in the athletics section of our website and come to a home game to root on the panthers. Wonderful coverage of the varsity baseball and softball teams in the Valley News over break. Let’s keep an eye out for more wins and highlights in the coming days and weeks!

& More!

  • The TA middle school and high school robotics teams are competing at the VEX Robotics world competition in Dallas, Texas this week. Competitions are still unfolding there – but all reports have been exciting and positive about our teams. We will share a wrap-up next week.
  • The Spanish 3 class hosted a Cinco de Mayo cafe on Thursday for their fellow students.
  • Sixth graders from TES and Open Fields visited TA yesterday afternoon for the annual ‘Step Up Day’. Hosted by their 7th grade peers, the future panthers explored campus, met with counselors, and got a glimpse of the TA experience.
  • For Teacher Appreciation Week, I’ll repeat my request for those who haven’t had a chance to do so yet … I invite you to reach out to a TA educator to share a note of gratitude. It will only take a minute to compose and send and will result in a big smile when it is read!

Summer Programs

Looking ahead to summer, check out the TA Summer Challenge middle school and high school programs, offered July 5-15. Additionally, there is still room in a couple of the TOP summer experiences as well, including the middle school garden camp, August 1-5.

Save the Dates

Upcoming dates: Senior Trip on May 11, School Dance on May 13, Spring Musical on May 20-21, Spring Concert & Arts Expo on May 26, Senior Prom on May 27. Check the online calendar for more info and the latest updates.

Happy May & Happy Mother’s Day,
Carrie Brennan, Head of School
