Head of School Weekly Email: Year-End Wrap Up

Dear TA Families,

The 2022-2023 school year has come to a close, and what a finale it was!

Congratulations to the Class of 2023, who celebrated their graduation on Friday evening. The ceremony was held in the Vaughan Alumni Gymnasium due to the weather, and the skies cleared in time for an outside reception afterwards. Thank you to our official event photographer Dan Grossman for capturing this special milestone for the seniors and their families. A few photos are attached below, and the full collection is available on his website: mapleleafphotos.smugmug.com/Thetford-Academy-By-Year.

Congratulations are also in order for all of our varsity teams this spring. Panther Baseball made history on Saturday, winning the championship game 6-0 and earning the title of the state champions for the first time since 1986! Panther Softball made it to the final game as well, for the first time in almost two decades, and played a well-fought game against Oxbow. And all of this on the heels of the Panther Track & Field performance on June 1. Of TA’s four varsity teams this spring, two were state champs and the other two were runners-up. Amazing!

Year-end logistics to be aware of – getting grades and returning tech and books. Teachers are finalizing grades for the semester this week. We will mail report cards home on Tuesday, June 20. Students were requested to return all school materials, such as TA laptops and chargers, textbooks, novels, calculators, athletic uniforms, and library books, last week. If there are any outstanding items at your home, please return them by June 23, so that we can finish processing returns and avoid fines. The front office is open in June from 8:00am-2:30pm.

Summer Events @ TA! Campus activity will quiet down a bit for the next couple of months – but not entirely. We are looking forward to hosting events for the community, including the traditional Fun Runs on Tuesday evenings, as well as a new ‘Evenings in the TA Garden’ series also on Tuesdays. We have three community concerts planned for June 25, July 15, and August 17 – stay tuned for details. And, the Thetford Arthouse Cinema is back next month with film showings on Tuesday and Friday nights in the Martha Jane Rich Theater. There is something for everyone, and all events are free and open to the community. We hope to see you!

Wishing everyone a sunny summer season!

Carrie Brennan, Head of School
