Head of School Weekly Email: Assembly Highlights & March Events
March 14, 2025

Dear TA Families,
Every Monday we come together as a school community in our weekly assembly. The whole school – students and staff – convene in the Vaughan Alumni Gymnasium to share accolades, watch student performances, make announcements, and learn about upcoming events and opportunities.
One of our school goals each year is to try to ensure that every student has an opportunity to be recognized and be on the gym floor during assembly. It is no easy feat getting up in front of the whole school, whether to receive an award, perform, represent a club or class, or whatever the occasion, so hats off to all of our students for being more than just the audience – and sometimes being down in front too!
So many accolades!
The assembly on March 3 focused on academic accolades and featured the distribution of quarterly honors certificates. Congratulations to all of the students who earned honors and high honors in Quarter 2! The assemblies coming up on March 17 and March 24 will focus on accolades in athletics and extracurricular activities – and there is much to celebrate! Check out the latest news on the TA website to learn more about teams excelling in recent competitions: the boys basketball championship, the debate team, the success of our robotics team, and the alpine ski team.
Performances, too!
In upcoming assemblies, we will also get to experience student performances in poetry and drama. On March 17 the One Act cast will perform scenes from Rue to help prepare for their regional festival. Throughout the month, student participants in this year’s Poetry Out Loud contest will also recite for us.
And summer opportunities …
At assembly this past Monday, we welcomed a representative from GIV to promote the awesome summer programming that is available to Vermont students in a variety of disciplines, from the arts to medicine to engineering. Students currently in grades 9, 10, and 11 are eligible to apply. Learn more from TA students who participated in a GIV institute last summer: Hugo Billiau, Hanae Debo, Wendell Durham, Eliza Knowlton-Young, Connor Kutter-Walker, Duncan MacPhee, Rowan Moody A’ness, Aiden Otterman, Nico Roya, Brady Sloop, Isabelle Weed. Applications are due 3/31/25!
