String Theory Headed to VEX World Championships, Haunted Harvest Meet at Thetford Academy This Weekend

Thetford Academy robotics team 4886S, String Theory, is going to Worlds! Senior Connor Kutter-Walker and junior Duncan MacPhee won the Lobstah Bowl VEX VR5 Signature Event in Bangor, Maine, two weeks ago. Competing as the only team from the NH/VT league, they faced 60 teams from across the US and Canada – including California, Tennessee, and Quebec.

String Theory was the only team representing our NH/VT league at this event and they faced tough competition. After a challenging start, the team came back to win the tournament outright with their Quebec partner team. This signature event victory means String Theory has punched their ticket to the VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis in May, where they’ll compete against the best teams from around the globe.

Up next for all of TA’s robotics teams is Thetford Academy’s second annual Haunted Harvest event. This Saturday, November 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., TA will host an action-packed day of robotics competition in the Vaughan Alumni Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public.

For those who’ve never been to a robotics tournament before, it’s an exciting time – think sports, science fair, and theater all rolled into one. Join us to see creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and fun in action! This year’s challenge, “Push Back,” is part of the VEX VR5 Robotics program where student-designed robots go head-to-head in high-energy, strategic matches that test engineering, coding, and teamwork.

What to expect:

Fast-paced 2-minute matches with student-built robots that team up, strategize, and battle for victory! Dozens of teams from across NH, VT, and beyond! A chance to cheer on our talented young engineers! Free admission, everyone’s welcome! Concessions available throughout the day! Costumes welcome! Bring a nonperishable food item for our Haunted Harvest Food Drive!
