Advanced Art Class Showcases Work in “Concentration Series”
January 21, 2021
Students in TA’s Advanced Art class spent the first quarter of the fall semester honing their skills both technically and conceptually. They also participated in The Memory Project‘s Portrait Program, creating portraits of children in Venezuela to serve as memories of their lived experience.
This quarter, students focused their ideas and techniques on following the thread of an idea, a “sustained investigation” of a theme or concept. For their final project, the “Concentration Series,” students dove deep into their chosen theme and created a series of works that reflected their focus. To showcase their work, each student created a virtual art exhibit via a slideshow presentation.
This online art show presents the viewer with the name of the individual artist’s show, their artist statement, and the work itself. The way students investigated the themes that were important to them, and the art materials they felt best expressed their visual ideas, show the students’ skill, commitment, focus, and curiosity.
