In April, Thetford Academy’s VEX Robotics team 4886 is headed to the VEX World Championship event in Dallas, TX. After a successful season of regional and state events, all of TA’s teams have qualified to compete and TA will send 11 students to Worlds. The two middle school and two high school teams will join thousands of STEM students from around the country and the world to apply what they’ve learned in robotics club to a global stage.

Robotics team members learn STEM topics like electronics, programming, animation, computer-aided machining, and materials fabrication; the VEX program also focuses important life skills like communication, project management, time management, and team work. As VEX sponsor REC Foundation (Robotics Education & Competition) puts it: “Participating in a VEX Robotics Competition is an experience that will stay with students long after their school days are over, offering a new appreciation for STEM and laying a strong foundation of skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.”

With the support of parents, community members, alumni, and local funders, TA’s VEX team 4886 has been able to go to Worlds every year since the club’s launch in 2011. This year, the team is fundraising once again to ensure that all students have access to this life-changing experience and competition. The team is currently accepting donations through Thetford Academy’s giving page and invites you to join them in their journey to Worlds!
