Head of School Weekly Email: Veterans Day Assembly, Robotics Meet & Other November News

Dear TA Families,

We had a fun spirit week and lots of Halloween creativity. I was impressed with the number of students who participated each day, starting with a very cozy Monday with so many students in pajamas! We closed the week on a more serious note, gathering as a school community for a special Veterans Day assembly.

Veterans Day Assembly
We celebrated Veterans Day early today with an assembly featuring the national anthem sung by Ava Hayden ’25 and a presentation by Thetford resident and TA parent Kate Van Arman. Kate served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 20 years. She packed a lot into an informational and inspirational talk, sharing highlights about her education path, what inspired her to pursue a military career, the roles and responsibilities of an officer, and the challenges of setting up and staffing field hospitals. Kate concluded her talk with sage advice about exploring career paths based on activities and topics that grab our attention and interest at the deepest levels.

Robotics Meet – Saturday!
Tomorrow is a big day on campus, as TA’s VEX robotics team (and all of their awesome parent volunteers!) host a major meet at Thetford Academy, with about 3 dozen teams from VT and NH coming to campus. Check out the Facebook event for more details about the first annual Haunted Harvest Robotics Tournament. The public is invited to come and watch. Best of luck to our TA robotics competitors!

The Crucible Comes to TA
The Fall Play class and TA Performing Arts present The Crucible, the classic play by Arthur Miller. There will be four shows the weekend of November 22-24 – two evening performances and two matinees. Details and tickets are available online: thetfordacademy.simpletix.com.

Report Cards
As planned, we will send quarter one report cards out on Monday afternoon via email. They will also be available in your student’s profile in Alma. Apologies for sounding like a broken record, but one more reminder … Parents – if you haven’t yet, please log in and familiarize yourself with our new student information system, Alma, thetfordacademy.getalma.com
