Head of School Weekly Email: Culminations & Kudos

Dear TA Families,

It’s an intense time of the year as we gear up for the ‘final’ everything. Students are putting all of their skills, practice, and polish to work as they present, construct, and perform culminating projects, gear up for exams, and compete in playoffs.

Kudos are in order for so many students, teachers, and classes at this time of year! Here is just a sampling from the past couple of weeks (some of them featured in the attached photos too):

  • The timber frame class finished a beautiful woodshed that they made for a community client and completed the on-site installation.
  • Students in English 10 presented their anthologies and performed reading excerpts to a packed theater of classmates and family members.
  • The one act drama class took on an ambitious fourth quarter project, putting on a musical inspired by The Rainbow Fish children’s book and hosted a free community performance for families on Sunday afternoon.
  • Ninth graders in their conceptual physical science class used the engineering process to design and build model vehicles as part of their kinetic energy unit.
  • Student creativity in many forms will be on display this evening at the Spring Arts Night & Concert, hosted by the unified arts department. Come for the appetizers and gallery exhibit – and stay for the singing and concert!

And beyond the classroom, students are giving their all on the field and around the track!

  • Congratulations to two state champ middle school track and field athletes! Danny Lloyd got first in the high jump and Seely Quenneville in the 400M. Middle school state championships are not organized by division, which makes this an even more remarkable achievement.
  • Congratulations to our high school track and field teams, which earned 2nd (boys) and 7th (girls) at the Division III Championship Meet. Check out all of the event details on 802timing.
  • Best of luck this afternoon to the varsity baseball and softball teams, competing in the quarterfinal round of playoffs!

Reminder: We have a special schedule for the final week to focus all of our energy and time on the culmination of the school year. Tuesday through Friday are half days with extended classes in the morning on Tuesday-Wednesday, a day devoted to make ups and call backs on Thursday, and a schoolwide celebratory last day on Friday. Details and an overview of the week can be found on this doc: Final Exams & Projects Week.

Please join us for Arts Night this evening. We look forward to seeing senior families on Sunday evening for Baccalaureate, kicking off a very special culminating week for the Class of 2026!
