Thetford Academy’s Café Lunch Program has had a great start to the year. We’ve been fortunate to receive federal funding to subsidize free lunch for all students, and have had enthusiastic responses from our students. Dawn Phelps, our Café Manager, has been working hard to provide interesting and varied meals that transport well in our current setup. Students have the routine of pre-ordering down, and we’ve had good weather most days allowing students to eat outside with their pods, which has been great. Next quarter Thetford Academy is launching two Getting to ‘Y’ student teams - one for middle schoolers and one for high schoolers - and applications are due October 25. The Getting to 'Y' program focuses on students bringing meaning to the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). Teams will look at the YRBS data and create action plans to make positive change in our school and community. Dear TA Families & Students, A few notes of gratitude to start off my weekly email: Thank you to the 139 parents/guardians and 161 students who completed our mid-quarter survey a few weeks ago. Picture Day is this week, Thursday, October 8.  Photographers will be on campus between 9:30 am and 12:30pm.  All students can attend the photography session, whether they are on campus or working remotely. Students wanting to order photos, need to bring a completed photo order form and payment to Picture Day on Thursday, October 8. Students who are on campus that day will take photos at designated times for each pod. The following letter was sent home to all families the week of September 28. Dear Parents & Guardians, Thetford Academy and Upper Valley Pediatrics will hold a student flu clinic on Thursday, October 15. Flu vaccines are free for all TA students through the VFC (Vaccines for Children) program at the Vermont Department of Health. Your student can receive a flu vaccine even if they do not attend in person on Thursdays or are completely remote. The Centers for Disease Control recommends that all children over the age of 6 months be immunized for the seasonal flu. Due to the COVID pandemic, receiving the flu vaccine is even more important this year.  Enclosed you...
