On Thursday, October 17, Thetford Academy, with the New Hampshire non-profit Compas de Nicaragua (Friends of Nicaragua), was proud to host the Nicaraguan dance troupe "Daughters of the Corn" for the third time. Compas, founded in 1992 and now led by Littleton, NH native Michael Boudreau and Ana Narvaez of Managua, Nicaragua, began as a small, informal community service effort focused on service trips to Nicaragua. The group traveled annually to the Nicaraguan community of La Primavera--building a community center, starting a tree nursery, and launching "Women in Action (WIA)," an advocacy group supporting the region's poorest women and children. Thetford Academy is gearing up to open the town’s first fully sanctioned mountain bike trail and one of only a few high school mountain biking trails in Vermont. The new, one-mile flow track is slated to open on Saturday, Oct. 19, with a launch event on campus from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  The new trail, the result of a multi-year planning effort and collaboration, will be the latest feature of TA’s Thetford Outdoor Program (TOP) and open to the public. “Thetford Academy has amazing outdoor resources that we consider our living laboratory and playground. It was a wonderful gathering for making connections, sharing ideas, and spreading enthusiasm for Thetford Academy's international student program. ...

For the last 29 years, Thetford Academy has been the proud host of the Woods Trail Run, widely considered the best of New England's middle and high school cross country circuit every year. The cold temperatures did nothing to dampen the energy and excitement of the 96 middle and high school cross country teams who flooded TA's parking lots and fields. Swathed in blankets and huddled with their teammates, nearly 2,000 students prepared to take...

They also talk about her contributions to Thetford Academy as an athlete, an actor, and musician. Casey always puts forth her best effort in all of these disciplines. Finally, it’s...

As part of a personal essay unit, Mr. Chapin’s English 8 class created "Life’s Journey Maps." In this project, students illustrate important experiences in their lives and then reflect on their meaning in writing. This year's work is now on display in the lower hall of the White Building. When asked to reflect on the project, students shared how the "continuous road," the required one inch road that traversed all of the students' maps, was a reminder of the connections and similarities among their classmates lives. "Some roads were plain and simple, others were complex and unique in a way. One road...
